Name often misspelled as 'Anatome helena', but anyway better known as the 'assassine snail'. And for good reasons. Watching this creature stalk, engulf and eat other snail is a gruesome spectacle. Work very well against plague snails.

The classic Amano shrimp, called after Takashi Amano, the father of aquascaping. Very useful algae-eating shrimp. Frantic mating chases are fun to watch, but eggs won't hatch in freshwater. Can be bred, but laboriously.

Very common in local Dutch waters. Do eat plant material. Breed like crazy, but surprisingly hard to keep alive when fully-grown.

This shrimp is available in countless colour morphs. They breed (and interbreed!) like rabits. High-grade specimens are valuable. For line-breeding, culling is necessary. Eat everything. Easy to keep.
