Madagascar rainbow
Hails from the Manajary river in south east Madagascar. On the large but remote island of Madagascar, several 'African' and 'Asian' fishes evolved along each other. Habitat loss in Madagascar is terrible, and this fish is endangered in the wild. Captive breeding should be encouraged.
One of my failures. I bought four, and three died within a month. Not sure why, but according to various sources they are rather susceptible to disease. It is a pretty fish though, and I would love to breed it one day. Grows relatively large, to 10-12cm, and has colourful fins. It is not shy, but not overly aggressive either.
