Trichopodus trichopterus
Trichopodus trichopterus
Three spot gourami
This is a common fish throughout South East Asia. I have seen them in the wild in Thailand and Singapore (possibly introduced). Very hardy. Does prefer planted surroudinging where it can anchor a bubble nest.
Note that in fish stores, more often than not selective-bred forms are offered ('marble' or 'golden' gouramis). These look slightly different from the wild-type.
IUCN lists it as 'least concern'.
If you have information about or footage of this fish in the wild, please reach out to us.
Very easy fish to keep and breed. Likes warm, planted, shallow tanks and will breed readily. Fry are really tiny.
